Being Honest Delights God (Prov Part 7)

Honesty is a reflection of the character of God. God is concerned that men be truthful, honest and just in all our labors and dealings in society and in the Church......Steve

A. Fair measures, weights and balances, are the Lords. We are to imitate His character.

A false balance is an abomination to the LORD,but a just weight is His delight. (Pro. 11:1)

(Pro 16:11) A just weight and balance are the LORD's: all the weights of the bag are his work.

(Pro 20:23) Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD; and a false balance is not good.

Better is a little with righteousness than great income with injustice. (Pro. 16:8)

B. False balances Are Distinguished as Unacceptable to God

A false balance is an abomination to the LORD,but a just weight is His delight. (Pro. 11:1)

Pro 16:11 A just weight and balance are the LORD's: all the weights of the bag are his work.

(Pro 20:23) Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD; and a false balance is not good.

He who profits illicitly troubles his own house, but he who hates bribes will live. (Pro. 15:27)

Differing weights and differing measures, both of them are abominable to the LORD. (Pro. 20:10)

Differing weights are an abomination to the LORD, and a false scale is not good. (Pro. 20:23)

C. Honesty Is to Be Practiced in Making Purchases

"Bad, bad," says the buyer, but when he goes his way, then he boasts. (Pro. 20:14)

D. In Truthful Commmunication There Is Endurance for Truth, But Not For Falsehood

He who speaks truth tells what is right, but a false witness, deceit. (Pro. 12:17)

Truthful lips will be established forever, buta lying tongue is only for a moment. (Pro. 12:19)

(Pro 8:6) Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.

(Pro 15:26) The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD: but the words of the pure are pleasant words.

E. Justice With Honesty Which Brings Joy and Stability

The exercise of justice is joy for the righteous, but is terror to the workers of iniquity. (Pro. 21:15)

The king gives stability to the land by justice, but a man who takes bribes overthrows it. (Pro. 29:4)

(1Ti 2:2) (Pray) .... For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

F. The Wicked Do Not Have An Understanding of Justice

A wicked man receives a bribe from the bosom to pervert the ways of justice. (Pro. 17:23)

Evil men do not understand justice, but those who seek the LORD understand all things. (Pro. 28:5)

G. Honesty - For The Presence of the God of Peace

(Phi 4:8-9) Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
